Report to 2008 AGM
This group has met regularly in St. Andrews, NB, and has built upon the four
background papers prepared in 2006-07 to help guide BoFEP in the next few years.
The WGs’ mandate is to explore various options for moving BoFEP forward with
suitable core and project funding (hence its original name of strategic
development and funding WG), and to focus on specific projects of a
multi-partner nature. The group is developing ideas for multi-stakeholder forums
on key topics, hence it supported the Tidal Power SEA forums of last winter, it
is assisting with the conduct of a forum/workshop this winter on Conservation,
and it is discussing a Passamaquoddy Bay forum for 2009 with DFO (SABS).
Planning has concentrated on a conservation forum scheduled for December or
January. The group is also developing ideas for a Retreat this Fall for BoFEP's
executive. The groups background papers are being consolidated into one "BoFEP
into the Future" document, for the membership. It will also hold a special
session and panel discussion at the upcoming BoFEP Workshop in May 2009, with
BoFEP members and others.
